About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our driven and collaborative Financial Services team, in a fixed term Accountant position. The purpose of this role is to support the Financial Controller in preparing the bank’s accounts, reconciling the general ledger, and providing insights and analysis on the Bank’s financial performance.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring transactions are accurately accounted for and recorded in the general ledger, so that the Bank’s financial reporting is both accurate and timely as well as assisting with general ledger and project ledger maintenance and reporting. You will also engage with business units to ensure that month-end accruals are accurately captured, accounted for and supported with appropriate documentation.

Other responsibilities of this role include:

  • Ensuring that reconciliations of the Bank’s general ledger are completed consistently and that balances are robustly supported. 
  • Preparing transaction summaries and other adhoc documentation requests for review by Internal and External Audit. 
  • Assisting in the preparation of regulatory surveys and tax returns such as GST & FBT, to ensure the Bank meets its reporting and compliance obligations. 
  • Assisting the team in documenting and refining processes, as well as focusing on continuous improvement through the identification of opportunities for efficiency in existing procedures. 

About You

To be successful in this role you’ll need a sound knowledge of accounting processes, reconciliations, and financial analysis. In line with this, you’ll have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
  • 2 -5 years’ experience in a Commercial or CA environment
  • Experience in Financial Services (preferred but not essential)
