Financial Crime Intelligence Analyst

TSB
Banking

Location can be either New Plymouth, Auckland or Wellington

Permanent, Full time

At TSB, you’ll be part of a profit for purpose organisation, that empowers and enables you to be your best and make a positive difference for the people you work with, and the communities you are part of.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) professional to strengthen TSB’s financial crime intelligence capability.

This role focuses on thematic reviews, strategic financial crime analysis and executive reporting. You will assess emerging risks and the effectiveness of TSB’s financial crime controls, turning complex information into clear findings and practical recommendations.

This is not an AML operations or alert investigation role. It requires broader experience in financial crime risk, intelligence, assurance or advisory work.

Who are you?

You will bring deep AML/CFT knowledge, strong analytical judgement and the ability to assess complex financial crime risks across customers, products, channels and transactions.

You will be a confident report writer who can communicate complex issues clearly to senior leaders and governance forums. Banking experience is strongly preferred, along with an understanding of how regulatory obligations, financial crime controls and customer outcomes work together.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Complete thematic reviews of financial crime risks, emerging typologies and control effectiveness.
  • Produce high-quality reports, executive briefings and governance papers with clear findings and practical recommendations.
  • Analyse internal data, regulatory guidance and industry intelligence to identify emerging risks and control gaps.
  • Support TSB’s financial crime risk assessments, Red Flag Library and transaction monitoring strategy.

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Deep AML/CFT expertise, preferably gained within banking or another regulated financial institution.
  • Experience completing thematic reviews, financial crime risk assessments or control effectiveness reviews.
  • Strong executive writing skills and the ability to turn complex analysis into clear, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Broader strategic, intelligence or advisory experience beyond operational AML alert review and case investigation.
