Financial Crime Specialist

About the role
The Financial Crime Intelligence Team play a key part in TSBs financial economic crime response. This role is responsible for supporting of TSBs AML/CFT and broader financial economic crime obligations. The emphasis of the role is on investigation, queue management, and ensuring that processes are constantly improved in line with the Bank’s business objective to Simplify, Optimise, and Automate.
Who are you?
To be successful in this role you will need a robust understanding of financial crime typologies, specifically, AML/CFT and Fraud. You will be a critical thinker with ability to apply analytical techniques to interpret information and data, that will ensure your detection methods and decision making is accurate to deter the instances money laundering and fraud. You need excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure written reports are submitted with clear, fact-based justifications.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Review and decision on automated and manual transaction monitoring alerts of unusual activity and the reporting of these activities to the New Zealand Police.
- Review high-risk payments for potential sanctions matches and providing subject matter expertise.
- The decisioning of Politically Exposed Persons
- Be the liaison point between TSB and other New Zealand banks and governmental agencies.
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Minimum 3 years financial services experience with relevant product knowledge and technical aptitude.
- Intermediate computer skills - MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) and knowledge of the Bank’s systems.
- High levels of attention to detail, a critical thinker and a growth mindset.
