About the role:
This role is responsible for delivering scalable and robust systems that empower Product teams to provide services for our employees and clients. Design and oversee well-structured systems, pinpointing opportunities for technological and process enhancements with a strong emphasis on operational excellence, risk mitigation, change facilitation, and increased efficiency through automation.
Who are you?
You will have the ability to foster and cultivate a DevOps culture and mentality, promoting shared accountability for both development and operations. You will champion the integration of operational quality into platform management via communities of practice and play a crucial role in ensuring systems are effectively managed, monitored, and operated within their established SLA targets.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Establish and uphold a suite of strong platform services that teams can leverage to offer staff and client-facing services, prioritising autonomy and self-service for users.
- Guide and engage in system design with a focus on minimising risks related to availability, latency, and efficiency.
- Engage in daily operational tasks including Request Management, Incident Management, and Change Management to ensure the scalability, stability, and security of platforms.
- Assist your Platform Lead in identifying and spearheading the planning and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
- Contribute to security management, particularly in maintaining a secure platform for users. Take the lead in defining and tracking reliability metrics, specifically SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
We are looking for candidates who have expertise in:
- 8+ years commercial experience as a systems admin, platform engineer or similar
- Using Infrastructure as Code tooling such as Terraform, Bicep and Ansible.
- Managing applications infrastructure such as Kubernetes, service mesh solutions, log aggregation tools and secret management services and managing both Windows and Linux operating systems and applications
- Leading and mentoring other engineers in platform operations
